St Stephens on the Hill is located just minutes from the beautiful Shawnee National Forest and Garden of the Gods in Southern Illinois.
The venue is nestled on a 100 acre private estate, built and designed with an 'Old World' style.
Weddings at St Stephens have access to all 100 areas, including a private residence and groom suite for bridal party preparation, Erzsebet Bridge, the Courtyard, the Open Air Chapel with reception area just steps away, and more.
The Courtyard & Erzsebet Bridge also makes a beautiful location for Bridal Showers, Baby Showers, Parties, and more.
No matter the event, St Stephens is sure to be a memorable setting that you and your guests will never forget.
BRIDAL PARTY PREP
We offer a full private residence for the Bride and Bridesmaids to get ready for the big day. We also have a separate Groom's Suite, located near the Reception area.
The gorgeous Old World construction allows for beautiful & unique photos.
ERZSEBET BRIDGE
A couple favorite photo spot is Erzsebet bridge. Spend some time overlooking the water lilies or just strike a pose for the perfect pic. The bridge is strung with lights for perfect nighttime photos too.
Our couples also receive a Love Lock to add to the gate by bridge, sharing your love with all future couples that choose St Stephens.
OPEN AIR CHAPEL
The centerpiece of St Stephens is the beautiful Open Air Chapel. The entrance of the chapel is constructed with Bedford stone which originated from the Van Cleve building built from 1908-1910 in Eldorado, IL, and the rest of the chapel was constructed using reclaimed and vintage items to make the the venue unique and special for all its future guests.
CEREMONIAL
BRICK LAY
Every couple that has their wedding ceremony at St Stephens has the option to lay an engraved brick with their names and wedding date in the pathway at the entrance to the chapel.
We always welcome our couples back to visit their brick or have a photo op for their anniversary!
THE VIZ MELLETT
An alternative Ceremony location to the Open Air Chapel is the new Viz Mellett. It provides a gorgeous backdrop between two large trees overlooking one of our three ponds. Truly so many possibilities for your ceremony.
THE COURTYARD
The courtyard can be reserved for showers, parties, rehearsal dinners, and more. It has access to Erzsebet Bridge as well. Perfect backdrop for photography & simply beautiful in the evening.
